Bilingual wedding invitation wording gives each language its own complete version of the invitation: names, date and venue stay identical, and every other line is written the way that language writes invitations. Below are 28 examples to copy, four for each pairing of English with Spanish, French, Italian, German, Portuguese, Dutch and Arabic.
How to use these bilingual wedding invitation examples
Copy the closest example, change only the names, date and venue, and ask a native speaker from each family to read the result. One swapped verb can make a natural line sound translated, and one form of address (usted or vosotros, Sie or ihr) should run to the end.
On paper, both versions share one card, so keep them short. On a Veiloria invitation, each guest reads the whole invitation in their own language, with a switch for the other. Spanish and English wedding invitation wording (4 examples)
Spanish invitations say tienen el placer de invitarle (one guest) or invitarles (several) and close with S.R.C., se ruega confirmación. Spain's warm plural is vosotros; Latin America uses ustedes.

A French faire-part announces the marriage (ont la joie de vous faire part de leur mariage); the invitation to the reception follows on its own line or card. Use vous. The civil ceremony at the mairie is required and comes first.

Italian separates the partecipazione, which announces the wedding, from the invito, a small card for the reception. Address guests as voi. Mothers appear under their own surnames.

Portugal and Brazil share a language but not an invitation: Portugal writes vos and cerimónia, Brazil você and cerimônia. Portugal's reply line is R.S.F.F., responda se faz favor.

Dutch weddings often have daggasten for the whole day and avondgasten for the evening party, who get their own card. Use u (formal) or jullie (warm). Write "Liselotte de Vries" but "familie De Vries".

Write the Arabic in Modern Standard Arabic, right to left, with the couple in the dual: يتشرفان بدعوتكم لحضور حفل زفافهما. Dates and times in each language
Write the month as a word, follow each language's order and capitals, and give times on a 24-hour clock everywhere but English, or in words with the part of the day. Saturday, June 12, 2027, at 4:30 p.m., in each language's most formal style:

- Capitals. Spanish, French, Italian, Portuguese and Dutch write days and months in lowercase; German capitalizes them.
- The first of the month. French 1er mai, Italian 1° maggio, Brazilian Portuguese 1º de maio, German 1. Mai.
- "Half" means the hour before. Dutch half vijf and German halb fünf are 4:30, so add the digits.
- Arabic replaces a.m. and p.m. with صباحًا (morning), عصرًا (afternoon) and مساءً (evening).

Frequently asked questions
How do you write a wedding invitation in Spanish and English?
Write two complete versions, each natural in its own language, with identical names, date and venue. Put the hosts' language first, address guests as ustedes (or vosotros for a warm invitation in Spain) and write the date as el sábado 24 de abril de 2027.
How do you say 'request the pleasure of your company' in Spanish?
Write tienen el placer de invitarle for one guest or tienen el placer de invitarles for several. For a church ceremony, "request the honour of your presence" becomes tienen el honor de invitarles. Avoid the literal solicitan el placer de su compañía, which reads as a translation.
How do you write the date on a French wedding invitation?
Write le samedi 22 mai 2027, lowercase with no comma, and the time on a 24-hour clock: à 16 h, or à seize heures on a formal card. The first of the month is 1er.
How do you write a wedding invitation in Arabic and English?
Write the Arabic in Modern Standard Arabic, right to left, with the couple in the dual (يتشرفان بدعوتكم). Agree on one Arabic spelling of each name, use the family's digits and month names, and decide together whether to open with the Basmala.
Should both languages say exactly the same thing?
They should give the same facts, not the same words. Names, date, time, venue and reply-by date must match; everything else should read naturally. A line that matters to one family, such as the Basmala, can appear in that language only.
