A good wedding invitation WhatsApp message is two to four short lines: the guest's name, the news in one sentence, the invitation link on its own line and a reply-by date. Send it in a private chat to each household, never in a group, and let the link carry every other detail.

The 40 messages below use our demo couple, Ximena and Karim (April 17, 2027, San Miguel de Allende); [link] is where yours goes. For the wording inside the invitation itself, see our wedding invitation wording guide.

The short answer: what a wedding invitation WhatsApp message needs

Write it the way you'd say it, keep it under about 60 words and let the link hold the details.

How to send a wedding invitation on WhatsApp, step by step

Send a link, not a file: one private message per household, checked on your own phone first.

  1. Copy the approved invitation's link, or each guest's personal link.
  2. Send it to yourself in WhatsApp's "Message yourself" chat and open it as a guest would.
  3. List households: one row each, with the name you'll use and the number with country code.
  4. Choose a method from the table below.
  5. Paste the message, change the name, send.
  6. Mark each household as sent.
  7. Read replies in the invitation, not the chat.

WhatsApp turns a link into a preview card drawn from the page. Check that it shows your names, not a blank box, and opens without an app or account. Skip link shorteners: from an unsaved number, they look like spam.

In WhatsApp's words, "Only people who've added you to their phone's contacts will receive your broadcast message." A cousin who never saved your number gets nothing.

Personal links reach anyone. With Veiloria's guest list manager (included with Premium and Bespoke, +$65 on Essential, or the equivalent in your currency), each guest's link greets them by name, with their +1 to +3 set. You send it on WhatsApp from your portal, and the list shows who hasn't replied. See how it works.

Why not a group chat

A group shows everyone who else is invited, shares numbers between strangers and drowns questions under eighty congratulations. A thumbs-up there isn't an RSVP. Keep groups for guests who have said yes.

The Arabic addresses one woman; for a family, use the plural (ندعوكم، حضوركم). North Africa mostly writes Western digits; the Gulf and the Levant often use Eastern Arabic ones.

Is it rude to send a wedding invitation on WhatsApp?

No. A wedding invitation on WhatsApp isn't rude when it's a personal message with a real invitation behind the link. In Spain, Latin America, Brazil, Italy and much of the Arab world, it's a usual way for invitations to travel. Only the way it's sent can feel careless.

Feels personalFeels careless
A private chat, greeted by nameA group chat or a surprise broadcast
A link to a designed invitationA bare link or a forwarded screenshot
A call first for eldersElders hearing the date from a cousin
A printed copy for those who want oneInsisting everyone goes digital

Ours come with a QR code to print for guests who prefer paper. More in are digital wedding invitations tacky? and how to send digital wedding invitations.

Frequently asked questions

How do I write a wedding invitation message on WhatsApp?

Greet the guest by name, give the news in one line, put the link on its own line and end with the reply-by date. Keep it under about 60 words.

How do you send a wedding invitation on WhatsApp?

Copy your invitation link, check its preview by sending it to yourself, then send it to each household in a private chat with a short personal message. Collect replies inside the invitation.

Is it rude to send a wedding invitation on WhatsApp?

No, not as a personal message with a designed invitation behind the link. It feels careless as a group message, a bare link or a screenshot. Call elders first.

How do I send bulk WhatsApp messages for a wedding invitation?

Use a broadcast list on your phone: up to 256 contacts, reaching only people who have saved your number. WhatsApp is rolling out a monthly broadcast cap by country, so check the current limit in your app (October 19, 2026). Avoid mass-sending apps: WhatsApp's Terms list bulk messaging and auto-messaging as impermissible.

Send a link. A PDF can't collect replies or change once sent, while a link opens in any browser and shows every update at the same address.

How do I know who has replied?

Check the replies inside your invitation, not blue ticks. In Veiloria's portal, replies arrive live with each guest's name and dietary needs, and the guest list manager shows who hasn't replied.
