The average cost of wedding invitations for 100 guests is about $270 to $600 on paper, printing and postage included, and about $25 to $200 for most paid digital invitations. At 150 and 200 guests, paper and per-guest services cost more with every household you add, while a one-price invitation such as Veiloria's $199 Essential costs the same.
Below: households, paper line by line, digital at three sizes, and one table that compares them.
Average cost of wedding invitations for 100 guests, and for 150 and 200
For 100 guests, expect about $270 to $600 on paper and about $25 to $200 for a per-guest digital service; a one-price digital invitation is the same at any size.
| Invitations only, sent once | 100 guests | 150 guests | 200 guests |
|---|---|---|---|
| Paper suite, printed and mailed (estimate) | $273–$600 | $397–$900 | $447–$1,200 |
| Per-guest or per-mailing digital (Premium-level tiers) | $53–$99.99 | $70.20–$159 | $90.10–$199 |
| One-price digital, designed by a person (Veiloria) | $199–$999 | $199–$999 | $199–$999 |
Per guest, paper works out to roughly $2.25 to $6.00 and per-guest services to about $0.45 to $1.06. Every price level is in our guide to what digital wedding invitations cost.
How we worked it out: sources, dates and assumptions
Every figure below is a published price checked on 19 October 2026, or simple arithmetic on one, with each assumption stated so you can swap in your own.
- Paper: The Knot 2026 Real Weddings Study (10,474 US couples married in 2025) and Zola's cost guide (updated 19 February 2026).
- Postage: USPS retail prices, Notice 123, effective 4 October 2026; US addresses only.
- Digital: each company's own pricing page, in the currency it lists.
- Households: an example list (next section), not an average.
We make Veiloria, so read its rows knowing our bias; every other figure is linked and dated. The services themselves are compared in our guide to the best digital wedding invitation sites.
Households, not guests: how many invitations you need
You need one invitation per household, so the number of invitations is always smaller than your guest count. Couples and families with young children share one; adult children usually get their own.
Count yours in three steps:
- List every guest by full name, with a mailing address (or phone number, for digital).
- Group the names by address and count the groups: that's your number of invitations.
- For paper, order 10–15% extra for mistakes, late additions and keepsakes, as Zola recommends.
Three example lists (fictional, to show the method):
| Example list | Couples | Families of four | Single guests | Guests | Invitations to send | Paper to order (+10–15%) |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 100 guests | 32 | 5 | 16 | 100 | 53 | 60 |
| 150 guests | 48 | 8 | 22 | 150 | 78 | 90 |
| 200 guests | 64 | 10 | 32 | 200 | 106 | 120 |
These lists lean toward couples. Zola's rule of thumb is 75–80 invitations for 100 guests, so a list with more single guests costs more on paper than our examples.
Each model charges for something different:
| Model | What it counts |
|---|---|
| Paper | Every household you print for and mail |
| Paperless Post | Coins charged "per recipient", per event |
| Greenvelope | Every named person, household members included |
| Evite | Guests, in packages up to 750 per event |
| Veiloria | The wedding: one price, unlimited guests and sends |
Paper invitations at 100, 150 and 200 guests
A printed suite for 100 guests costs about $270 to $600 with postage, and the total rises with every household you mail. The Knot found couples spent an average of $220 on printed invitations with reply cards and $510 on their full stationery suite.
Printing
The Knot breaks average stationery spend down by guest count: $130 for 1–50 guests, $180 for 51–100 and $260 for 101 or more. The Knot notes these reflect personalized print invitations from online retailers, not custom paper.
Zola puts a standard suite (invitations, reply cards and basic postage) at $400–$600 for 100 guests and $600–$900 for 150. That is $4 to $6 per guest at both sizes; at 200 guests the same rate gives $800–$1,200 (our arithmetic, not Zola's figure).
Inserts and reply cards
Two lines couples forget:
- Reply postage: another $0.82 per household for a stamped reply envelope, or $0.65 for a reply postcard.
- Assembly: Zola lists it at $1–$3 per invitation, so $53–$159 for our 100-guest list.
Replacing the reply card with a QR code to an online RSVP removes its printing and postage; see digital wedding invitations with RSVP.
Postage
US postage for a wedding invitation runs from $0.82 to about $2.42 per household, depending on weight, shape and the reply card. A stamped letter is $0.82 up to 1 ounce and $1.11 up to 2 ounces. Square envelopes, and others USPS treats as nonmachinable, add a $0.49 surcharge.
| Mailing setup (per household) | Postage | 100 guests (53) | 150 guests (78) | 200 guests (106) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Invitation only, rectangular, up to 1 oz; replies online | $0.82 | $43.46 | $63.96 | $86.92 |
| Rectangular suite up to 2 oz, plus a stamped reply postcard | $1.76 | $93.28 | $137.28 | $186.56 |
| Square suite up to 2 oz, plus a stamped reply envelope | $2.42 | $128.26 | $188.76 | $256.52 |
Weigh one assembled suite before buying stamps. Guests abroad cost more: an international letter is $1.75 at 1 ounce, and $3.50 at 2 ounces outside Canada and Mexico.
Paper, all in
| Line | 100 guests | 150 guests | 200 guests |
|---|---|---|---|
| Invitations to mail (example list) | 53 | 78 | 106 |
| Printing, low: The Knot average spend for that size | $180 | $260 | $260 |
| Postage: 2-oz rectangular suite plus reply postcard | $93.28 | $137.28 | $186.56 |
| Low estimate | $273 | $397 | $447 |
| High estimate: Zola's typical suite, postage included | $600 | $900 | $1,200 |
The Knot's $260 averages every wedding of 101 guests or more, so it understates 200. Trade-offs beyond cost are in digital vs paper wedding invitations.
Per-guest digital platforms at each size
Per-guest and per-mailing services cost about $25 to $200 for one send at these sizes, and the price rises with your list. On Paperless Post, sending one per household cuts the bill: 78 household invitations on Premium cost $70.20, against $120 for 150 sent one per guest.
| Service and tier (one send) | 100 guests | 150 guests | 200 guests |
|---|---|---|---|
| Paperless Post Basic, one per household (53/78/106 recipients) | $26.50 | $37.44 | $48.76 |
| Paperless Post Premium, one per household (53/78/106 recipients) | $53.00 | $70.20 | $90.10 |
| Paperless Post Premium, one per guest | $85.00 | $120.00 | $140.00 |
| Greenvelope single mailing (every named person counts) | $99 | $159 | $199 |
| Evite Diamond package (up to 750 guests) | $99.99 | $99.99 | $99.99 |
Greenvelope lists 20-guest steps ($19, $39, $59 and so on to $199 for 200), so 150 guests falls in its up-to-160 tier: $159 on that pattern (its calculator quotes the exact price). Paperless Post's figures are its calculator's totals, which discount as the list grows; its free designs and features cover the first 50 invitations sent directly.
A save the date is a second send on all three, charged again. How the two biggest per-guest services differ beyond price is in Paperless Post vs Greenvelope.
One-price digital invitations at each size
A one-price invitation costs the same for 100, 150 or 200 guests, because you pay once per wedding, not per guest. A person designs them, so they start higher and stay flat.

| Veiloria Premium, Save the Date included | $599 | $599 | $599 | $3.00 |
Printed save the dates averaged $150 in The Knot's study, plus $0.65 a postcard.
- Lowest price: Paperless Post sent one per household, which costs less than Evite's two packages at all three sizes; price your exact count in its calculator.
- Greenvelope: one mailing costs about a dollar a guest, music and animated envelope included; from 150 guests its annual membership costs less than two mailings.
- One-price invitations cost more at 100 guests and close the gap as the list grows; what you pay for is a designer.
Your wedding invitation budget, line by line
Zola suggests invitations take about 2–5% of total wedding spending. Copy this list:
- Households to invite: ___

- Invitations: households + 10–15%, if paper
- Inserts and envelopes
- Postage: one weighed suite × households, plus reply postage
- Guests abroad: $1.75 or more each
- Assembly and addressing, if paid
- Digital: priced per recipient, guest, mailing or wedding? Does a second send cost again?
- A buffer for late additions

Frequently asked questions
What is the average cost of wedding invitations for 100 guests?
About $270 to $600 for printed invitations with postage, and about $25 to $200 for most paid digital invitations. The Knot's 2026 study puts average stationery spend at $180 for 51–100 guests before postage; Zola puts a standard suite at $400–$600 with basic postage. A one-price invitation such as Veiloria Essential is $199 at any guest count.
How much should 200 wedding invitations cost?
For a 200-guest wedding, expect about $450 to $1,200 on paper, printing and postage included, and about $50 to $200 for one send on a per-guest service. You likely need far fewer than 200 cards: our example 200-guest list has 106 households, about 120 cards with spares.
How much do wedding invitations cost per person?
Paper costs about $2.25 to $6 per guest with printing and postage. Paperless Post charges per recipient, $0.50 to $1.44 at 50 recipients and less on longer lists, and Greenvelope about $1 per person. A one-price invitation costs less per guest as the list grows: $199 is $1.99 a guest at 100 and $1.00 at 200.
How many invitations do I need for 150 guests?
One per household, so far fewer than 150: our example 150-guest list comes to 78 invitations. For paper, add 10–15% for mistakes and keepsakes, about 90 in that example.
Is it cheaper to send digital wedding invitations?
Usually, yes. Digital removes printing and postage, and postage alone runs $0.82 to $2.42 per US household; most per-guest services cost under $210 for 200 guests. A designed digital invitation can cost more than basic paper, but far less than custom paper, which stationery designers quoted by The Knot price at $4,000 to $7,000 for about 100 guests.
