A good wedding invitation text message is one personal line, the date and place, your invitation link and a reply-by date, ideally in under 160 characters. The text is the envelope: it says who it's from, and the link carries the schedule, map and RSVP.

The examples use our demo couple, Marisol and Teo, who marry in Barcelona on Saturday, October 2, 2027, with replies due August 31; [link] is where yours goes. For the wording inside the invitation itself, see our wedding invitation wording guide.

What a wedding invitation text message needs

Five parts, in this order: their name, who you are, the news, the link and one ask.

PartExample
Their name"Hi Laia,"
Who it's from (if your number isn't saved)"it's Marisol"
The news"Teo and I marry on October 2, 2027, in Barcelona"
The link, on its own line[link]
One ask"Reply in it by August 31"

Times, dress code and gifts live behind the link, where you can change them without a second text.

Is it OK to invite someone to a wedding by text?

Yes, when the text is personal and leads to a real invitation, not when the text is the invitation. A group text, a bare link or a screenshot is what feels careless.

How do I invite someone to my wedding via text?

One signed text per household, with the link and a reply-by date.

  1. Text the link to yourself first: it should show your names and open without an app.
  2. List households, one row each, with the name you'll use.
  3. Send one text per household, never a group text.
  4. Collect replies inside the invitation, and mark each household as sent.

The full routine is in how to send digital wedding invitations.

Short wedding invitation texts under 160 characters (8)

An SMS holds 160 plain (GSM-7) characters; one emoji or curly quote switches it to Unicode, which holds 70, and some emoji take two of those units (Twilio, checked October 19, 2026). Longer texts are split into segments of 153 characters, or 67 in Unicode, and rejoined on the phone, so short is about reading, not delivery. Counts include a 30-character link.

Staying out of the spam folder

  • One household per email, or BCC, never CC.
  • Stay under the limits. Gmail pauses sending for up to 24 hours past 500 recipients in one email or 500 emails a day (Gmail Help, checked October 19, 2026).
  • The full link once, with no shorteners, attachments or images of text.
  • A text heads-up ("our invitation's in your email") rescues the ones filed under Promotions.

How to respond to a wedding invitation by text (examples to share)

Reply in the invitation's RSVP first, then text the couple something warm; a text alone can get lost.

SituationText
Yes"We'd love to come! Just replied in the invitation."
Yes, with a note"Count me in! RSVP done, and I added my nut allergy there."
Not sure yet"Thank you! Checking flights; I'll reply in the invitation by the 31st."
No, warmly"So sorry to miss it. Declined in the invitation, and we'll toast you from afar."
No, formally"Thank you for the kind invitation. Regretfully, I can't attend; warmest wishes to you both."

Frequently asked questions

How do I invite someone to my wedding via text?

Send each household its own text with their name, your names, the date, the link and a reply-by date. Test the link first, and never use a group text.

What is a good short wedding invitation message?

"We're getting married on October 2, 2027. You're invited: [link]" says it in under 90 characters. Add the guest's name and a reply-by date if there's room.

What should the subject line of a wedding invitation email say?

Both your names and the date, such as "Marisol & Teo, October 2, 2027: your wedding invitation". Putting your names first keeps it from looking like a newsletter.

Can you send wedding invitations by email?

Yes. Email reads as more formal than a text and suits colleagues and guests abroad. Send one household per email, with the link and no attachments.

How do you respond to a wedding invitation by text?

Reply in the invitation's RSVP first, then text the couple a short note: "We'd love to come! Just replied in the invitation." If you can't attend, thank them and send good wishes.
